To be eligible to compete in the poetry slam, poets must be a current high school student (grades 9th – 12th) in the tri-city area. Participants can be no older than 19 years of age. A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience. All participants must have met minimum satisfactory academic standing at their respective school. While our open mics are open to all youth that would like to participate, our poetry slam competition is invitational and based on a point system. Participants will receive a set number of points throughout the season based upon their participation in Fountain City Slam events, programs, and activities. A signed parental consent form is also required for participation.

1. Register with the Fountain City Slam by completing THIS form.
2. Sign up for our Weekly Writing Prompts HERE.
3. Complete the Parental Consent Form found HERE. If invited to slam, you will be required to bring this form with you.
Participants will receive a set number of points throughout the season based upon their participation in Fountain City Slam events, programs, and activities. Find out how you can accumulate points HERE.
*For those interested in receiving points for the online writing exercises, you must submit your work (preferably in a google doc) to this email address by the first Friday of the following month to receive credit for that previous month's prompts.
