The Fountain City Teen Poetry Slam is commemorating their ten year anniversary of empowering young artists of the Chattahoochee Valley with a special show entitled “Imagining Futures”. On Saturday, July 10th at 7:00 PM at The RiverCenter for The Performing Arts (900 Broadway), attendees can enjoy a free poetry exhibition featuring new, current, and alumni of this unique literary arts organization. The community will want to be on hand to bear witness to the amazing works that have been echoing throughout this community for a decade.
Birthed in 2011 in Columbus, Georgia by award-winning spoken word & teaching artist Jonathan S.E. Perkins, the Fountain City Slam, Inc. is a regional nonprofit presenter of spoken word performance, creative writing, education, and youth development programs.Founded on ideals of youth empowerment, creative expression, and community building, we pride ourselves on our educational and inspirational effect on local youth and families. From sponsoring workshops at local theatres to fostering groundbreaking writing workshops at middle and high schools to competing at international poetry festivals, the Fountain City Slam has stopped at nothing to enrich the next generation and empower them to change their world, one word at a time.
